slight problem

So my cousin is having a baby (yay!), and all babies deserve a hedgehog, so I started one. When I went through my first wave of making these things, I took Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool (I think….) and dyed the yarn with cool-aid. It was much fun and resulted in my kitchen smelling super fruity. On my first attempt I made enough for a full-sized hog, yet decided to make a mini-hog instead, leaving me with lots of left over orange yarn (note: poorly dyed orange yarn. I don’t remember what I did wrong, but I ended up with a tie-dyed effect. So it’s a groovy orange hedgehog). But obviously I use more than half the amount of a large hedgehog to make a mini one, and I have run out of yarn.


Oh man, there’s only about 10 rows left. Since this is the part with the fun-fur it’s not extremely important to match the color exactly, but I am going to need some semi balance of a cool-aid orange color. So I guess I’ll get on that soon enough….

In other news, there is a yarn shop near me. That’s right – a local yarn shop! I’m very impressed. I live in the middle of nowhere (oh yes, this is farmland. There are amish people.) and I was really not expecting anything of the sort popping up around here. But the closest town, Kennett Square (the mushroom capital of the world – that’s right people, the whole world!), has been adding a lot of new shops lately, one of which is a yarn shop. (look, they even have a website! )

Now most of their stuff is expensive, or let’s call it normal priced. But I’m a college student and normal priced yarn is really pretty expensive in my world; I don’t have $50 to drop on a project. But it’s nice to look and touch and inhale and generally be around awesome yarn.

Last weekend though, Kennett had a sidewalk sale. I was so there. I picked up this awesome stuff, “Cotton Comfort” by Green Mountain Spinnery. I’m really excited about this. Probably irrationally so. But it’s just so pretty! I have no idea what to do with it yet. I’ll keep you posted.
